Third generation family farmer, Victoria Urquhart, was raised on a 15 acre flower farm in the foothills of Carpinteria, California. Nestled between the mountains and the sea shore, this idyllic landscape planted the seed of inspiration for a child running through the rows of baby`s-breath and lilies. Fast forward 20 years and this flower child turned entrepreneur is open for business, paying homage to the importance of locally grown, sustainable agriculture and of course, beauty.
Bloom Floral & Foliage was conceptualized out of a need for fresh cut flowers that would last the trip home (let alone the entire weekend!). Every time Victoria purchased flowers it felt like throwing money away since they would just wilt immediately. It started to feel like something as simple as fresh flowers for the home was this unattainable luxury that it shouldn't be. Nature gifts us with these beautiful shapes and colors that we should be able to enjoy indoors as well.
By sourcing seasonal blooms grown locally (within a 30 mile radius) Victoria ensures that her bunches are not subjected to the drastic temperature fluctuations that imported flowers suffer. By using a seasonal `what's available now` method, she is harvesting flowers at their peak season, when they are the happiest, most colorful, and fragrant. This prevents waste and excess and is more gentle on the plants and the planet. She`s also taking out the legwork of trekking to the farmers market or grocery store by offering subscription-based plans. The flowers are brought to your home or office ready to be arranged as you like or as is, organically bunched and placed in water. Simple and lovely...just as nature intended.
