Company Description

History:
At age fifteen Johnny Leon took a summer job as a construction laborer making six dollars an hour. Digging utility trenches and working on piping installations for forty plus hours a week taught Johnny the value of hard work and gave him a love for construction. His enthusiasm was apparent to his boss who gave him a two dollar an hour raise and offered him a full time permanent position. Johnny went home and asked his mom if he could go to night school and take the construction job being offered. His mom made him promise that he would go to night school and finish his education, a promise that was kept, and Johnny’s career in construction began.

Founded:
Leaping forward to 2005, J.J. Leon Construction was founded as a sole proprietorship by Johnny Leon and in 2006 the company incorporated in the state of California as J.J. Leon Construction, Inc. As we completed projects and our work was evaluated, our company developed a reputation for providing exceptional work and equally exceptional customer service. Our “good name” is valued by every member of the company, from founder Johnny Leon to our employees in the field everyone is committed to advancing and improving this already stellar reputation. While continuing to complete projects in the private and public sector, J.J. Leon Construction, Inc. became certified in the US Small Business Administration 8(a) program in 2009 and later, in 2015, certified with the National Minority Supplier Development Council. J.J. Leon Construction, Inc. has earned several awards and recommendations as a testimony of Johnny Leon’s integrity
integrity demonstrated time and again during his 30-year tenure in the construction industry. Currently J.J. Leon Construction, Inc. has a mentor/protégé relationship with Vortex Construction, Inc., a program graduate of the SBA 8(a) Business Development Program.

Mentor/Protégé:
Today, with Vortex’s experience and logistical resources available to J.J. Leon Construction and vice versa, many paths have opened for both companies. J.J. Leon Construction has always been and continues to be a quality contractor and an asset to any project they undertake. Vortex has gained a more versatile and valuable business partner as J.J. Leon Construction has grown, and continues to grow, into a strong, stand-alone contractor. J.J. Leon and Vortex Construction formed a Joint Venture for private and public sector work. Drawing on our combined experience, expertise, and logistical resources, along with effective and up to date scheduling and record keeping procedures, we are able to ensure quality, timely results in a safe working environment.
