My dogs were cared for and that is the only reason I would give RIver’s Edge Pet Lodge even a two star rating. But their business practices are so atrocious and for that reason my overall rating will be one star. When I called several weeks before checking in my two dogs I was quoted a price of $880 for 15 days of lodging and informed I would have to pay half up front, due to the stay being over two weeks. When I dropped off my dogs on the appointed day, I was once again told the charge would be $880. One of the ladies asked me if I brought food or if the dogs would just eat the food there. In the past I had used the food at the lodge, as my dogs do not have any special dietary needs. It took a rather long time for the ladies working the front counter to figure out how to charge me for half of the stay up front, with the calculation of half of 880 causing some serious issues. Keep that in mind - they were trying to figure out what is half of $880. I ended up paying $400 up front and then told I would just be charged the remainder upon pickup. When I did go to pick up my dogs, the remainder of the bill went from $480 to $593. The woman working the counter, who had stated she was an owner, told me I was now being charged for food. It was never mentioned that food was going to be an extra charge (and it never was before). Not during the initial appointment nor when my dogs were dropped off. And there was definitely no mention of charging me $113 for two weeks of feeding my dogs. I could have gotten a bag of food for under $40 that would have lasted them a month! Well, in short, the owner could give half a shit that her employees quoted me an incorrect price multiple times. The bottom line is that I will never do business with these people again. It seemed to me that the owner realized her employees made mistakes yet still decided it was going to be my problem. Win/Win for her. Just not in terms of keeping long-term customers. If you do decide to deal with these people, get EVERYTHING in writing. Take note that new owners are quick to say thanks for 5 star reviews but ignore anything that is critical in any way.
