Jill's Place, Quality Food, Genuine Drink - "Where The Locals Go"
I started Shalhoob Deli & Catering in 1987, serving deli style lunches and soon developed an off-site catering company specializing in grilled meats. With fifteen years of deli and catering experience, I was prepared to expand the business into a full-service restaurant. In addition to the same great old-school lunch menu, the new venue also boasted a full bar and dinner menu, which was a great success thanks to word-of-mouth and our on-going dedication to consistency, quality, and fun.
The Shalhoobs have been in Santa Barbara since the early 1900`s. I`m a fourth generation Santa Barbaran and daughter of Jerry Shalhoob. My father started Shalhoob Meat Company in the same building where Jill`s Place is located now. This butcher`s daughter is proud to continue our family business at this location. My father`s original small retail shop expanded to a wholesale meat company and relocated to a larger space at 220 Grey Avenue, where Shalhoob Meat Company still operates today under the ownership of John Shalhoob, Jr., and his daughter and son, Leeandra and Lil John (LJ).
