I saw the oral and maxillofacial surgeon today and had a CT Scan, the results are that the disc is completely gone on the right side and is bone on bone, the left side still has some disk but it is deteriorating. The doctor's treatment plan is pain meds, once the jaw locks closed or open then he will refer me out of the area for a surgery consult. My questions are many.... 1. Is this normal treatment for the severity of my joint? 2. Can anyone recommend an oral and maxillofacial doctor in the Northern California area that would be good to see for a second opinion? 3. Is the rest of my life going to be liquid/soft diet and pain meds? Thanks for your help.
